John Foltz: listen
We've Got No Time

This song was written by my ex-wife and I for a conference called "Come to the Edge". It was a conference steeped in progressive thought and associated actions. The lyrics did not go over well because they did not echo the sentiment correctly. I stuck with it because I agreed with what was written at the time. However, I've had a change of heart over the years and have re-written it to reflect what should have been done originally. The song now goes, "We have the time, let's start all over again." With a few other minor lyric changes, it better conveys the message it was intended to, and more pointedly conveys how I feel now. Maybe I should re-record it, eh? What do you think? All votes will be considered.
We’ve got no time to start all over again
No time left to go back and relive
These centuries of shame
We’re torn and shattered, we’re broken and battered
And longing for a change
A thousand miles from here to there, the old roads lead us astray
No time to start again, we must be on our way
We’ve got no time to start all over again
Pay it back, give it up, break it down
Let go and let it all in
We’ve got no time to start all over again
A paradox is now upon us
It’s the looking glass of doubt
Wrong and right have lost all meaning
Within becomes without
We’re leaning towards a precipice, living on the brink
No time to start again, no time to stop and think
We’ve got no time to start all over again
Pay it back, give it up, break it down
Let go and let it all in
We’ve got no time to start all over again
So you’re scared of where we’re going
And you can’t stand where we’ve been
Right now there’s an edge to find, a new way to begin
Our hands can move these mountains
And our hearts can melt these stones
Our feet will keep us walking into the great unknown
We’ve got no time to start all over again
Pay it back, give it up, break it down
Let go and let it all in
We’ve got no time to start all over again
